Physical properties of an Haplumbrepts as affected by soil management

, : Physical properties of an Haplumbrepts as affected by soil management. Ciencia Rural 30(1): 91-95

Soil physical degradation is one of the main factors responsible for water erosion. Conventional tillage usually accelerates this process. No-tillage is considered a soil conservation management system because it preserves crop residues on the soil surface encouraging an increase in soil organic matter. However, no-tillage may increase soil density and decrease surface soil total porosity. This study was conducted in Brazil, on a Haplumbrepts soil, from May 1995 to November 1997.
