Preferential behavior of pulse beetle (Callosobruchus maculatus Fab.) in fodder cowpea genotypes: implications for seed quality

, : Preferential behavior of pulse beetle (Callosobruchus maculatus Fab.) in fodder cowpea genotypes: implications for seed quality. Seed Research 27(1): 100-105

The preference of Callosobruchus maculatus for different genotypes of fodder cowpeas was examined in laboratory experiments using seeds of 12 genotypes. None of the genotypes were immune to this pest, but there were significant differences among the genotypes with respect to the insect damage. Seed quality (in terms of germinability and vigour) was high in the genotypes categorized as least preferred, i.e.
