Role of protein synthesis in recovering nitrate reductase activity in wheat leaves exposed to heat stress

, : Role of protein synthesis in recovering nitrate reductase activity in wheat leaves exposed to heat stress. Russian Journal of Plant Physiology 48(5): 615-619

Heating intact leaves of 14- to 15-day-old seedlings of wheat (Triticum aestivum) Albidum 29 for 10 minutes at 44-45 degrees C brought about a decrease in nitrate reductase activity by 50-90% of the initial level. The complete recovery of the enzyme activity occurred one to two days after the plants were returned to normal temperature conditions. Exposing plants to darkness or adding cycloheximide to the nutrient medium did not interfere with the recovery of nitrate reductase activity.
