Chromotoxic and antimitotic activities of organophosphorous pesticides in rye Secale cereale L

, : Chromotoxic and antimitotic activities of organophosphorous pesticides in rye Secale cereale L. Environment and Ecology 19(2): 360-364

The chromosomal aberrations and mitotic indices in root chromosomes of rye seeds presoaked in 0.03, 0.005, 0.07 and 0.09% ekalux metasystox methyl parathion monocrotophos and rogor for 9 h were determined to evaluated the chromotoxic and antimitotic effects of the organophosphorus pesticides. All the pesticides induced stickiness, lagging chromosomes, bridges, multipolar anaphases and ring chromosomes.

Results of laboratory studies on aerobic digestion of activated sludges show that change in initial pH value affects the digestion period which varied from 9 to 13 days in the initial pH range of 4.5 to 10.4. Initial pH value of around 8.0 was fou...
