Genetic distance between arctic and silver fox populations based on transferrin polymorphism

, : Genetic distance between arctic and silver fox populations based on transferrin polymorphism. Medycyna Weterynaryjna 59(9): 821-825

The aim of this study was to estimate the genetic distance between arctic fox populations (Alopex lagopus; n=296 individuals) and silver fox populations (Vulpes vulpes; n=251 individuals) based on polymorphisms in the transferrin locus. In arctic fox, transferrin has two alleles: TfF and TfS with frequencies 0.473 and 0.527, respectively; in silver fox there are also two alleles: TfF (0.245) and TfD (0.755).
