Wheat cultivar IPR 87, developed by IAPAR, has a good yield potential, and medium-hard, red kernels. It is moderately resistant to lodging, and moderately resistant to moderately susceptible to sprouting. It is moderately susceptible to leaf rust (Puccinia recondita), wheat blast (Magnaporthe grisea), barley yellow dwarf virus and wheat mosaic virus. The cultivar has intermediate gluten strength. Bread making can be carried out by blending IPR 87 flour with another stronger wheat flour.
