A month old Holstein calf had a hard adherent mass on the lateral side of the left mandible and was given a single 30-ml injection of sodium iodide 16%. Five days later the calf presented with sudden lethargy and anorexia, then twelve hours later, severe bilateral lacrimation, scaly skin around the neck and a serous nasal discharge as well as increased respiratory sounds.
