Identification guide to grasshoppers (Orthoptera: Acrididae) in Central Otago and Mackenzie Country

, : Identification guide to grasshoppers (Orthoptera: Acrididae) in Central Otago and Mackenzie Country. DOC Science Internal Series (26): 17 pp.

This report examines the distribution of a new species of short-horned grasshopper, Sigaus species A, first proposed by C. Jamieson. It is based on material and data collected from the Alexandra region. The taxon is related to, but a separate species from, S. childi. Included is a description of the morphological characteristics of Sigaus species A that separate it from S. childi, and a key suitable for field use to distinguish the grasshoppers present in Central Otago and Mackenzie Country.
