Identification of Phytophthora species affecting plantation crops by RFLP of PCR-amplified internal transcribed spacer regions of ribosomal RNA

, : Identification of Phytophthora species affecting plantation crops by RFLP of PCR-amplified internal transcribed spacer regions of ribosomal RNA. Current Science 85(1): 34-36

A molecular technique based on the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of ribosomal DNA was developed for the rapid identification of Phytophthora species. DNA was isolated from cultures of P. capsici from cocoa in Indonesia; P. nicotianae and P. arecae (P. palmivora) from coconut in Indonesia; P. meadii from rubber in Sri Lanka, Malaysia and India; and P. meadii from arecanut in India.
