Identification of RAPD markers linked to the red floral gene in Phalaenopsis equestris by a stepwise screening method

, : Identification of RAPD markers linked to the red floral gene in Phalaenopsis equestris by a stepwise screening method. Taiwan Sugar 48(4): 23-29

The genetic behaviour of Phalaenopsis is harder to analyse than that of other plant species with traditional breeding method or molecular techniques due to the long reaching maturity of flowering. This paper describes a three-step screening method which easily identifies Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers linked to red floral trait that is controlled by a single dominant gene. F1 and F2 progenies of P. equestris derived from the cross of white and red floral clones were raised.
