Impact of elevated carbon dioxide and water stress on productivity of cotton

, : Impact of elevated carbon dioxide and water stress on productivity of cotton. Journal of Ecobiology 14(1): 77-79

Cotton plants (Gossypium hirsutum LRA 5166) grown under elevated CO2 atmosphere, were subjected to water stress. Such plants had similar morphological and productivity attributes as plants grown under unstressed ambient CO2 level. At harvest, the water stressed plants grown under elevated CO2 atmosphere exhibited 15 and 17% reduction in yield and biomass, as against 42% and 36% in plants subjected to water stress under normal atmosphere.
