Major mineral deficiencies for grazing beef cattle

, : Major mineral deficiencies for grazing beef cattle. Documentos Embrapa Gado de Corte (112): 27 pp.

Mineral deficiencies and imbalances have been described all over the world. The mineral elements generally deficient in beef cattle on pastures in tropical regions are: P, Na, I, Cu, Co and Se. Under certain conditions, Ca, Mg and Mn may be deficient as well. On the other hand, Fe and Mn are frequently high in the savannas and wetland (Pantanal) regions of Brazil. The intake of deficient/imbalanced diets makes it more difficult to maintain optimal concentrations of minerals in animal tissues.
