Nectar composition in some pear cultivars

, : Nectar composition in some pear cultivars. Acta Horticulturae (596): 761-765

Nectar production and nectar sugar composition of 39 pear cultivars were studied in a Hungarian cultivar collection in 1994-2000. Nectar production was monitored after 12- or 24-h isolation. Most studied cultivars produced little nectar with low sugar concentration. The majority of the cultivars contained no or very little sucrose in the nectar and can be classified into the hexose-dominant or hexose-rich category on the basis of sucrose/glucose+fructose ratio.
