Piceatannol, a stilbene phytochemical, inhibits mitochondrial F0F1-ATPase activity by targeting the F1 complex

, : Piceatannol, a stilbene phytochemical, inhibits mitochondrial F0F1-ATPase activity by targeting the F1 complex. Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications 261(2): 499-503

Piceatannol (from seeds of Euphorbia lagascae) was shown to potently inhibit the rat brain mitochondrial F0F1-ATPase activity in both solubilized and submitochondrial preparations (IC50 of 8-9 micro M), whilst having a relatively small effect on the Na+, K+-ATPase activity of porcine cerebral cortex (no effect up to 7 micro M).
