The effects of steaming on the shrinkage coefficient and air permeability of oak

, : The effects of steaming on the shrinkage coefficient and air permeability of oak. Journal of Nanjing Forestry University 27(2): 62-64

Oak (Cyclobalanopsis spp. is widely distributed in Yunnan, China, and it is also an excellent raw material for decoration and high grade furniture. However, it is not widely used because of difficulty in drying. Steaming of lumber has been proposed as an aid in drying for decades. In this paper, the effects of amorphous steaming on the shrinkage coefficient, air permeability and initial moisture content (MC) of oak were investigated.
