The morphology of calcareous neoformations in the soils of dry-steppe zone in the Southern Urals upon climate changes

, : The morphology of calcareous neoformations in the soils of dry-steppe zone in the Southern Urals upon climate changes. Pochvovedenie (11): 1371-1379

Morphological specificity and mechanisms of transformation of calcium carbonate concentrations (CCs) are investigated in the chronosequence of dark chestnut soils in the Southern Urals for the last 2500 years. In arid epochs, CCs in the Bk horizon grow both in size and in number due to the aggregation of fine nodules and the formation of new carbonate concentrations. In humid epochs, CCs become desegregated and dispersed, with calcareous material being preserved within the Bk horizon.
