Isolation of Brucella suis biovar 3 from horses in Croatia

, : Isolation of Brucella suis biovar 3 from horses in Croatia. Veterinary Record 156(18): 584-585

A total of 6015 horses in Croatia were blood sampled during 2001-2002 to screen for the presence of equine infectious anaemia and for Brucella spp. antibodies using the rose Bengal (RBT), complement fixation (CFT) and indirect ELISA tests. It was shown that all the animals were seronegative except for 2 Posavac mares which gave positive results in the 3 tests. Both were euthanized and were subjected to postmortem examinations.
