Pathophysiology of Fasciola hepatica infection in goats. II. Kinetic changes of NO, 6-keto-PGF1 alpha and TXB2

, : Pathophysiology of Fasciola hepatica infection in goats. II. Kinetic changes of NO, 6-keto-PGF1 alpha and TXB2. Chinese Journal of Veterinary Science 24(2): 168-170

Nine healthy male goats were divided into infection (Group I, n=5) and control (Group II, n=4) groups. Each goat in Group I was orally infected with 150 F. hepatica metacercariae. Blood samples were collected from the jugular vein at weekly intervals to determine nitric oxide (NO), 6-keto-PGF1 alpha and thromboxane B2 (TXB2). It was shown that NO increased postinfection. TXB2 levels were significantly higher in Group I compared to Group II at 5-23 weeks postinfection.
