Radiation-induced substerility of Ostrinia furnacalis (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) integrated with the release of Trichogramma ostriniae (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) for area-wide control

, : Radiation-induced substerility of Ostrinia furnacalis (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) integrated with the release of Trichogramma ostriniae (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) for area-wide control. International Atomic Energy Agency Technical Documents IAEA TECDOCs (1283): 37-41

The mating competitiveness of O. furnacalis F1 male moths (progenies of male parents irradiated with 200 Gy) was compared with the mating competitiveness of untreated moths. The F1 male moths were involved in more than 50% of the matings with normal females. The flight ability and response towards sex pheromone was similar for F1 and untreated moths, although the number of F1 moths captured was slightly lower than the number of untreated moths captured.
