Umbilical cord trace elements and minerals and risk of early childhood wheezing and eczema

, : Umbilical cord trace elements and minerals and risk of early childhood wheezing and eczema. European Respiratory Journal 24(2): 292-297

It has been suggested that fetal nutrition might influence the inception of wheezing and atopic disorders in childhood but specific nutrients have not been implicated. In the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children conducted in the county of Avon, UK, during 1 April 1991-31 December 1992, umbilical cord samples were assayed for trace elements and minerals, and mothers were asked about wheezing and eczema in their children.
