Control of melon necrotic spot disease by soil solarization in a closed and irrigated greenhouse

, : Control of melon necrotic spot disease by soil solarization in a closed and irrigated greenhouse. Bulletin of Hokkaido Prefectural Agricultural Experiment Stations (89): 35-42

The effects of soil solarization on the incidence of melon necrotic spot disease (caused by Melon necrotic spot virus) were studied under greenhouse conditions during the summer of 2001-04. The soil was irrigated with water tubes under plastic film sheets for 1-2 months between late July and late September. In 2001, due to sunshine availability, the disease incidence in 8 greenhouses was reduced to less than 10%.
