Soil loss potential of different forest covers in Naurar watershed of Kumaon hills (Uttranchal), India

, : Soil loss potential of different forest covers in Naurar watershed of Kumaon hills (Uttranchal), India. Environment and Ecology 24(2): 430-434

A study was conducted to assess the soil loss generation potential of different forest covers in Naurar Watershed, located in Almora District, Uttaranchal, India. The different forest covers studied include chir pine (Pinus roxburghii), sal (Shorea robusta), oak (Quercus spp.), cyprus (Cupressus spp.) and deodar (Cedrus deodara). The soil loss was estimated using Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation. The estimation revealed an average soil loss rate of 0.89 tonne/ha/year from forestland.
