Status of HCH residues in Indian medicinal plant materials

, : Status of HCH residues in Indian medicinal plant materials. Bulletin of Environmental Contamination and Toxicology 76(5): 782-790

This study investigated the levels of organochlorine pesticides (OCP), comprising HCH and DDT, in 20 medicinal plants widely used in India. Analysis revealed that the level of HCH was higher than DDT in almost all medicinal plants. The highest level of HCH (25.46 micro g/kg) was found in Elaichi (Elettaria cardamomum). Elaichi recorded the highest levels of alpha -HCH (7.66 -g/kg) and gamma -HCH (15.66 micro g/kg).
