2' 3' cyclic nucleotide 3' phospho hydrolase ec 3.1.4.31 and lipids of myelin from multiple sclerosis and normal brains

, : 2' 3' cyclic nucleotide 3' phospho hydrolase ec 3.1.4.31 and lipids of myelin from multiple sclerosis and normal brains. Journal of Neurochemistry 34(3): 732-739

Purified myelin samples were taken from normal-appearing white matter of 10 multiple sclerosis (MS) human brains and were compared with 10 age-matched control brains. Statistical evaluations were carried out with Student's t-test for differences. In pathological samples the yield of myelin came to only 2/3 of the corresponding controls. Enzyme assays of the 2',3'-cyclic 3'-phosphohydrolase revealed an obviously significant reduction of specific activity to 1/2 in MS myelins.
