A micro method for determination of complement activity in serum and other biological fluids

, : A micro method for determination of complement activity in serum and other biological fluids. Laboratornoe Delo (7): 433-434

A micromethod for determination of the complement activity was developed based on the use of a gel-indicator mixture (consisting of equal volumes of buffered 2% agarose solution and 2% hemolytic system) applied in thin layer to glass plates. Wells punched in gel contained not more than 0.003 ml of the reagent. Several drops from the finger are sufficient for the procedure. The results are recorded by the diameter of the hemolysis zone; as to the complement titer, it is calculated in hemolytic units according to the special formula on the basis of comparison with a certain titer of control.
