A new attractant bait for trapping males of agrotis segetum lepidoptera noctuidae

, : A new attractant bait for trapping males of agrotis segetum lepidoptera noctuidae. Pochvoznanie Agrokhimiya i Rastitelna Zashtita 21(2): 89-93

A field screening of Z9-14:Ac, Z11-14:Ac and E11-14:Ac has shown that males of Agrotis segetum are actively attracted by a compound of Z9-14:Ac + Z11-14:Ac. In Bulgaria, populations of this pest are attracted by the compound Z9-14:Ac, even when it alone is used in dispensers. No statistically significant difference has been found between the number of insects trapped by using Z9-14:Ac only and the number of insects trapped by using Z9-14:Ac + Z11-14:Ac, but the binary mixture has been noted to exert a considerably longer attracting effect. Besides male insects of Agrotis segetum, more notable numbers of Cuculia umbratica L., Xestia baja Den. and Schiff and Heliophobus reticulata G. have been attracted by the tested compounds. Very negligible numbers of representatives of another 10 species of the family Noctuidae have also been trapped.
