Accumulation of nutrients with disintegration of vegetative remains

, : Accumulation of nutrients with disintegration of vegetative remains. Agrokhimiya (4): 75-82

N, P and K reserves were determined in crop phytomass and virgin motley grass under zonal soil conditions on the northern slopes of Zailiiskii Ala Tau and Dzungarian Ala Tau, Asiatic USSR. In the process of decomposition, 93-97% of the K (of initial values) was released from aboveground plant mass on chernozem and dark-chestnut soil and 67% on sierozem; 29-53% was released from roots. P loss in the decomposition process from the aboveground parts of plants was 74-77% on chernozem and 28-32% on sierozem; loss from roots was 64-69 and 10-40%, respectively. In chernozem and dark-chestnut soils, phosphates of organic compounds predominated in plant remains; in sierozems, mineral compounds of P of the first 2 groups, predominated. The loss of N from decomposing plants corresponds with the loss of its organic material.
