Acute abdomen due to torsion of a wandering spleen

, : Acute abdomen due to torsion of a wandering spleen. Harefuah 99(1-2): 12-12

A wandering spleen is an uncommon condition with a variety of symptoms. A typical case history is presented. Angiography and scanning were of the utmost importance in the preoperative diagnosis. Early preoperative diagnosis is important in acute cases because if surgery is delayed mortality can reach 50%. In asymptomatic patients presenting with an abdominal mass, making the right diagnosis will avoid unnecessary surgery.
