Comparison of elisa enzyme linked immunosorbent assay and indirect immunofluorescence in sero epidemiology of kala azar

, : Comparison of elisa enzyme linked immunosorbent assay and indirect immunofluorescence in sero epidemiology of kala azar. Indian Journal of Medical Research 79(JUNE): 744-748

The specificity and sensitivity of ELISA and indirect immunofluorescence [IIF] for detection of leishmanial antibodies in kala-azar using promastigotes of Leishmania donovani, were assessed. ELISA was more sensitive than IIF, although IIF was more specific. A good correlation was found between the 2 techniques (P < 0.01) in the diagnosed group.
