Computed tomography demonstration of post pneumonectomy tumor recurrence


, : Computed tomography demonstration of post pneumonectomy tumor recurrence. AJR (American Journal of Roentgenology) 141(2): 259-262

Seven patients with suspected recurrent tumor who had undergone pneumonectomy for carcinoma of the lung were studied by computed tomography (CT) to evaluate the location, extent, and nature of the tumor. In 6 patients with proven recurrence in the chest, CT demonstrated the tumor in 5, 4 as a mass near the bronchial stump and 1 as a parasternal mass. (In 1 patient, surgical clip artifacts prevented interpretation.) This information was useful in planning radiation therapy treatments in 4 patients.
