Critical period of competition of weeds in seed beds of tobacco

, : Critical period of competition of weeds in seed beds of tobacco. Ciencias de la Agricultura (20): 11-16

Research work was performed from 1976 to 1978 in the months of October and November, with the purpose of determining the critical competitive period between weeds and tobacco postures in seed beds, using 12 treatments with different weeding and grass over-grown periods, until 30 days from germination of plants. Posture parameters, such as dry matter weight, neck root thickness, and extraction of macroelements (N, P, and K), in the weeds that appeared, were studied. It was determined that the critical competitive period, provided the conditions in which the experiment developed, is equivalent to about 15 days, starting from germination of tobacco seeds.
