Diagnostic ear acupuncture in the dog the relationship between active points and internal and skin diseases

, : Diagnostic ear acupuncture in the dog the relationship between active points and internal and skin diseases. American Journal of Acupuncture 15(1): 53-60

Auricular diagnosis was investigated in 295 clinically ill dogs (171, males, 124 females) ranging in age from 2 months to 17 years. Various diseases and pathological processes localized in the thorax, abdominal, pelvic cavities, in the skin and conjunctiva were diagnosed in them by current clinical and laboratory methods. As a result of the auriculodiagnostic examination, six points representing the projection zones of internal organs, one point conforming to the conjunctiva and another point of functional status of pruritus cutanei were discovered. The projection zone of the spinal card was also discovered. The results of this study suggest that the acupuncture points are detectable in the dog under clinical conditions as in the experiments using the same methodology. Auricular diagnosis was easy to carry out in the large majority of dogs. It was confirmed that acupuncture points can offer diagnostic information about the disturbance of specific internal organs or organ function.
