Dosage response analysis for methyl parathion methomyl and permethrin on the tobacco budworm heliothis virescens and bollworm heliothis zea lepidoptera noctuidae in georgia usa

, : Dosage response analysis for methyl parathion methomyl and permethrin on the tobacco budworm heliothis virescens and bollworm heliothis zea lepidoptera noctuidae in georgia usa. Journal of Economic Entomology 75(6): 961-963

Larvae of H. virescens (F.) and H. zea (Boddie) were collected in Georgia from corn, cotton, crimson clover and tobacco. Evaluation for dosage response showed both species to be much more susceptible to permethrine than methyl parathion or methomyl. H. virescens was more tolerant than H. zea to all 3 insecticides. Comparison to previous work and a susceptible laboratory strain showed field-collected larvae of H. virescens to have decreased susceptibility to methyl parathion and methomyl. Little differences in LD50 values were obtained from cultures collected from different host plants.
