Effect of foot and spike diseases of cereals on the yield

, : Effect of foot and spike diseases of cereals on the yield. Wissenschaftliche Zeitschrift Martin Luther Universitaet Halle Wittenberg Mathematisch Naturwissenschaftliche Reihe 25(3): 35

Studies were made on disease "models", eyespot disease of cereals (Cercosporella herpotrichoides Fron) which causes stem rot. A study was also made on "partial white ear" (Fusarium culmorum (W.G. Sm.) Sacc.). Test plants, in both cases, were winter wheat. In fusarial disease of the ear (spike), incidence rose to 25%. Treatment of winter wheat with systemic fungicides permitted observations on the extent of yield reduction. For both diseases a control approach was worked out, taking into account temperature and humidity.
