Effects of ascorbic acid and dehydro ascorbic acid per os on the larval glycemia and amino acidemia of artificially fed laspeyresia pomonella lepidoptera

, : Effects of ascorbic acid and dehydro ascorbic acid per os on the larval glycemia and amino acidemia of artificially fed laspeyresia pomonella lepidoptera. Insect Biochemistry 10(5): 521-528

The effect of dietary ascorbic (ASC) and dehydro-ascorbic (DHASC) acids on levels of blood sugars and amino acids was assessed in L. pomonella. For glucose, fructose, lys, arg, his, cys, ser, glu, thr, ala, phe, maximum levels were reached both for a complete deficiency and for an excess of vitamin. Minimum values were observed at the optimum doses (15-30 mM) which gave fertile adults. For trehalose, sucrose and proline the lowest levels were observed when the vitamin was withheld. The effects of ASC and DHASC were similar quantitatively.
