Element composition of humic acids in the lower volga basin ussr steppe soils

, : Element composition of humic acids in the lower volga basin ussr steppe soils. Pochvovedenie (9): 35-44

Experimental data are presented on the [USSR] element composition of humic acids in irrigated and non-irrigated steppe soils of the Low Volga basin. The continuity of humic acid [HA] element composition is emphasized for the zonal soils series, while its profile differentiation is weak. Irrigation causes some changes in the element composition; thus, the HA become more carbonized and less oxidized; they display a lower content of aliphatic structures. Fulvic acids apparently are more oxidized and have a more pronounced profile differentation. The oxidation degree depends on the aliphatic structural C in the HA.
