Epidemiological and immunological studies on human scabies

, : Epidemiological and immunological studies on human scabies. Angewandte Parasitologie 17(2): 65-70

The sabies epidemic observed since 1965 developed from persistent endemic centers and follows continuously the cyclic course of scabies humanis in periods of 15-20 yr. The i.c. tests with antigens of Notoedres alepis show a cross antigenity with the antigens of Sarcoptes scabiei and a sensitivity of scabies patients. These tests have diagnostic value. N. alepis antigens are free of antigens from human epidermis. The theory of immunity apparently is appropriate for the interpretation of the cylic course of scabies. Wars and social and hygienic nuisances have only a modifying influence. Promiscuity and sarcoptoxicity of environment have no deciding importance.
