Evaluation of the effect of ifn alpha beta and gamma on ia like antigens and tac antigens expressed on pwm stimulated t cells of patients with chronic liver diseases

, : Evaluation of the effect of ifn alpha beta and gamma on ia like antigens and tac antigens expressed on pwm stimulated t cells of patients with chronic liver diseases. Tokyo Jikeikai Medical Journal 103(1): 367-374

To assess the effect of interferon on Ia-like antigens and Tac antigens expressed on PWM stimulated T cells of patients with chronic liver disease, the evaluation of Ia-like antigens and Tac antigens expressed on peripheral blood T cells from 12 patients with LC, 6 patients with CAH, both diagnosed by liver biopsy, was performed. Thirteen healthy, sex and age matched, adults were evaluated as well. Peripheral blood T cells were analyzed after stimulation of 8-days culture with PWM, by indirect fluorescent antibody technique with microscopic observation, using monoclonal antibody OKT Ia-1 or monoclonal anti-Tac antibody. Although T cells of patients with chronic liver disease showed only weak expression of Ia-like antigens on PWM stimulation, IFN-.gamma. could enhance Ia-like antigens expressed on PWM stimulated T cells of chronic liver disease, especially LC. In contrast to IFN-.gamma., neither IFN-.alpha. nor .beta. showed any definite effect on Ia-like antigens expressed on PWM stimulated T cells. In the normal individual, IFN could not enhance Ia-like antigens expression on PWM stimulated T cells. And IFN showed no remarkable effect on Tac-Ag expression on T cells of chronic liver disease and normal individual.
