Growth of the fungus macrosporium solani races in a culture with various nutrition sources

, : Growth of the fungus macrosporium solani races in a culture with various nutrition sources. Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR Seriya Biologicheskaya (4): 639-644

Growth and development of M. solani strains, pathogens of tomato macrosporiosis, are largely determined to great extent by essential nutrient composition. The fungus strains studied differed in their response to C, N, P and S nutrition. Mono- and oligosaccharides, nitrates and organic N compounds were most essential nutrients. Addition of both P and S compounds to an artificial nutrition medium promoted mycelial growth and sporulation. S compounds promoted mycelial growth but inhibited spore formation.
