Using parasitological examination of 1 stool sample per person, 479 people from Rolecha, Rio Negro and Hualaihue (' South lat.,' West long.) were surveyed. The rates of infection by intestinal commensal and/or parasite protozoa and helminths were Entamoeba histolytica 6.1%, E. coli 29.3%, Endolimax nana 11.9%, Giardia lamblia 14.1%, Ascaris lumbricoides 35.9%, Trichuris trichiura 61.0% and Hymenolepis nana 2.2%.
