Hydroxy di hydro ergosine a new ergot alkaloid analog from directed biosynthesis by sphacelia sorghi

, : Hydroxy di hydro ergosine a new ergot alkaloid analog from directed biosynthesis by sphacelia sorghi. Experientia (Basel) 37(12): 1257-1258

A new ergot alkaloid, 9'-hydroxydihydroergosine, was produced by axenic cultures of S. sorghi to which 4-hydroxy-proline was added when biomass accumulation was complete. Evidence for a lack of biosynthetic specificity for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd amino acid in cyclic tripeptide alkaloids was found among ergot fungi.
