Influence of the cyanobacterium chlorogloeopsis fritschii on the growth and biosynthetic activity of solanum laciniatum cells grown in a mixed culture

, : Influence of the cyanobacterium chlorogloeopsis fritschii on the growth and biosynthetic activity of solanum laciniatum cells grown in a mixed culture. Fiziologiya Rastenii (Moscow) 32(6): 1158-1165

The cells of nightshade (Solanum laciniatum Ait.) and nitrogen-fixing cyanobacterium (Chlorogloeopsis fritschii Mitra) were grown in mixed suspension culture in various media. In nitrogen-containing media and cyanobacterium and its culture fluid did not influence nightshade growth but promoted steroid accumulation in the plant cells. In nitrogen free media the cyanobacterium promoted nightshade survival of nitrogen starvation, stimulated its cell division and glycoalkaloid accumulation.
