Kinetics and mechanism of the ferri myo globin hydrogen per oxide reaction

, : Kinetics and mechanism of the ferri myo globin hydrogen per oxide reaction. Israel Journal of Chemistry 21(1): 72-75

The kinetics of the reaction between ferrimyoglobin and H2O2 [a possible model for catalase action] was analyzed. The observed red complex is an intermediate which becomes stabilized in the system due to the fact that it is both formed and decomposed by H2O2. A FeO3+ type structure for the complex has been proposed with strong .pi.-bonding between the metal and the O atom.
