Lack of mutagenicity of tetramethylsuccinonitrile in Salmonella typhimurium TA strains

, : Lack of mutagenicity of tetramethylsuccinonitrile in Salmonella typhimurium TA strains. Eisei Shikenjo Hokoku. Bulletin of National Institute of Hygienic Sciences: 100-101

Tetramethylsuccinonitrile (TMSN), which may be detected in plastic products used for food packaging, was examined for its mutagenicity using Salmonella typhimurium TA 100, TA 98, TA 97 and TA 102 by a pre-incubation method with and without the S9 mix. No killing effect nor mutagenicity of TMSN was observed in any of the strains tested even at the highest concentration of 5,000 .mu.g/plate in both systems with or without the S9 mix.
