Lack of relationship between the c 3g allele and the induction of sex linked recessive lethals by x rays and ethyl methanesulfonate in mature sperm of drosophila melanogaster

, : Lack of relationship between the c 3g allele and the induction of sex linked recessive lethals by x rays and ethyl methanesulfonate in mature sperm of drosophila melanogaster. Journal of Science of the Hiroshima University Series B Division 1 (Zoology) 30(1): 33-38

The c3G/c3G+ males were treated either with 1500, 3000 and 4500 rad of X-rays, or with 0.0125 M of ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS). The difference of frequencies of sex-linked recessive lethals in sperm carrying c3G and sperm carrying c3G+ was not statistically significant by X-rays but was significant by EMS. To examine whether or not the difference was due to the c3G allele, c3G-/c3G+ males were treated either with 1500, 3000 and 4500 rad of X-rays with 0.0125 and 0.000625 M of EMS. There was no statistically significant difference between sperm carrying c3G- and sperm carrying c3G+ in the frequencies of sex-linked recessive lethals induced by these doses of X-rays and EMS.
