Many patients visit ophthalmologists because of epiphora and discharge. In patients with epiphora secondary to nasolacrimal obstruction, lacrimal surgery is the preferred treatment. Indications, instruments and methods of lacrimal surgery in Tenri Hospital are reported. Probing, dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) and dacryocysterectomy are the primary modes of treatment in Tenri Hospital, the results being satisfactory. Other surgical techniques, such as conjunctivodacryocystorhinostomy are only rarely used.
