Lactate dehydrogenase ec 1.1.1.27 analysis of patients with extremely low activity of the enzyme in serum

, : Lactate dehydrogenase ec 1.1.1.27 analysis of patients with extremely low activity of the enzyme in serum. Japanese Journal of Electrophoresis 25(3): 173-178

Isozymes of LDH (lactate dehydrogenase) in serum and erythrocytes of 47 patients having very low serum LDH activity (lower than 160 IU/l; normal range 195-359 IU/l) were studied. On the basis of the analysis of erythrocytes, 6 out of 47 cases (13%) were identified as suspected cases of heterozygotes of hereditary LDH-H subunit deficiency. With regard to serum LDH, its stability in refrigerator was studied. Marked decline of LDH activity was observed in 4 out of 47 cases (9%). Two cases of these were the heterozygotes of LDH-H subunit deficiency. No relation was found between the patients having lasting-low serum LDH activity and disease clinically diagnosed.
