Lactate dehydrogenase iso enzyme pattern changes of gastric mucosa in gastric diseases relationship of atrophic gastritis intestinal metaplasia and gastric cancer

, : Lactate dehydrogenase iso enzyme pattern changes of gastric mucosa in gastric diseases relationship of atrophic gastritis intestinal metaplasia and gastric cancer. Tianjin Medical Journal 11(3): 139-143

Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) isoenzymes were determined in 115 human samples from gastric or duodenal mucosal tissues obtained by gastroscopic biopsy. In the gastric mucosa of atrophic gastritis, intestinal metaplasia and gastric carcinoma, the relative value of LDH-M was significantly increased. The degree of intestinal metaplasia was proportional to the relative values of LDH-M, the more mature the differentiation of intestinal metaplasia and the more severe the distributive degree of intestinal metaplasia, the higher the LDH-M value approached that of LDH-M of intestinal metaplasia. In gastric mucosa with atrophic gastritis and intestinal metaplasia, the LDH isoenzyme patterns were reorientated and tended to lean towards the M type. This reorientation was very similar to the LDH isoenzyme patterns in gastric mucosa with gastric carcinoma, suggesting that there is a close correlation between atrophic gastritis, intestinal metaplasia and gastric carcinoma.
