Lactate dehydrogenase iso enzymes and hepatitis b surface antigen

, : Lactate dehydrogenase iso enzymes and hepatitis b surface antigen. Journal of Postgraduate Medicine (Bombay) 26(2): 108-111

Comparative study of HBsAg (hepatitis B surface antigen) by counter-immuno-electrophoresis and LDH [lactate dehydrogenase] isoenzymes by acrylamide gel disc electrophoresis was done. Acute hepatitis cases (120) and volunteer blood donors (50) were studied. Of 18 HBsAg positive hepatitis cases, 16 showed LDH5 ex band and of 102 non-B hepatitis cases 6 showed LDH5 ex band. All 50 blood donors were negative for HBsAg and showed only 3 LDH bands.
