, : Meal patterns in the genetically obese Zucker rat. Physiology & Behavior 18(4): 685-692

Meal patterns of genetically obese rats and their lean littermates were compared. Total food intake of the genetically obese rats exceeded that of nonobese rats by .apprx. 30%. Differences in the obese animals' meal patterns included enlarged meal size and decreased meal frequency. The normal pattern of predominantly nocturnal feeding was absent in obese animals.
